Nana Addo Salutes Women

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has joined the rest of the world to celebrate the efforts of women during the commemoration of the International Women’s Day.

The day also coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration, a platform for action which remains the world’s best blueprint for achieving gender equality and empowering women.

Nana Addo, congratulating Ghanaian women, said the NPP has always stood for the rights of women.

‘We believe women’s rights are fundamental to our collective well-being as a nation,’ he said in a statement.

He said the NPP is committed to ensuring that women and girls are given equal opportunity to play their fullest part in the development and progress of Ghana.

‘We do so believing that Ghana cannot be one great Ghana without all being on board,’ he mentioned.

The NPP flagbearer observed that as Ghana and the world celebrate the progress made over the years, ‘there is the need to also reflect on the challenges we are yet to overcome, including gender based violence, equal pay for equal work, and fair and positive support for women’s participation in all aspects of our national life.

‘We stand together, men and women, as one united Ghana, as we celebrate International Women’s Day. Happy International Women’s Day!’ he said.
