Half-Assini, WR, Mar. 9, GNA – The Half-Assini Ghana Health Servicd (GHS), team beat their Ghana Police Service counterparts 4-3 on penalties in the finals to lift this year’s Independent Anniversary trophy.
The match ended 1-1 at the regulation time hence the penalties.
The Jomoro District Assembly organised the institutional football competition as part of activities marking the 58 Independent Anniversary, drawing participation from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Ghana Education Service (GES), Ghana Police Service (GPS) and District Assembly Staff Teams.
Patrick Adjei of Police scored the first goal in the first minute of the first half while Yaw Boampong equalised with two minutes to full time.
Presenting the trophy, the DCE, Mr. Sylvester Daddieh, on behalf of the Assembly expressed his profoud gratitude to the participating teams.
