The Methodist Bishop of Obuasi Dioceses, Rt Rev Stephen Bosomtwe Ayensu says the lack of analytical and great thinkers in government is the bane of Ghana’s development.
According to him, Ghana is reeling in socio-economic mess because the president has surrounded himself with “inexperienced” people in his government.
Bishop Ayensu made the comment while addressing church members at the commissioning of Kokofu Circuit of the Methodist Church in the Ashanti region.
Citing the decision by the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ to add Mathias to their group due to his leadership skills to buttress his point, the Methodist Bishop said it is about time President Mahama look beyond the people around him and go for intellectuals to propel Ghana’s development.
“We need great thinks and people with experience in government [because] most of the Ministers in government are neophytes and it is an open secret” he stressed.
On the way forward, Bosomtwe Ayensu underscored the need for all appointees in government to be schooled on the portfolios before being given appointments.
