Fantastic performance: I will rate Avram Grant A-Plus – Kwasi Nyantakyi

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwasi Nyantakyi has rated the performance of Avram Grant as ‘A-Plus.

The Black Stars coach guided the team to second place at the 2015 AFCON hosted in Equatorial Guinea after a very short time to prepare for the tournament.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM, the FA boss noted that Black Stars tactician deserves every commendation for his exploits in Equatorial Guinea.

‘We asked him [Avram Grant] to go and do well and after the tournment everybody saw his level which I will rate him A Plus, because he is a disciplinarian as he strongly dealt with the players very well in Equatorial Guinea.’

Nyantakyi stressed that, the Black Stars of Ghana performance at the 2015 AFCON was not magic. ‘Ghana’s performance in Equatorial Guinea was not magic, prior to the AFCON, many people gave us no chance of excelling all because of the Brazil debacle.’

According to him Ghana beefed up the technical department by bringing onboard a new video analyst and a physical trainer prior to the tournament and this also helped the team a lot. ‘Avram Grant in Equatorial Guinea introduced a new trend of training with respect to the team recovering after every game; in the past it was a one day recovering but he said the players must have two days recovery which worked to perfection,’ he said.

Responding  to reports emanating from the media suggesting that South Africa have made contact to Avram Grant asking him to take the coaching role of the Bafana Bafana, the CAF executive committee member said, ‘South Africa contacted him[Avram Grant] but he told them he is not available…’

The former Chelsea and West Ham manager signed a 27-month long contract as coach of the Black Stars.
