Bullet freekick: Douglas Nkrumah strikes to give Tripoli victory

There was Ghanaian joy once again for AS Tripoli in the Lebanon top flight on Saturday after Douglas Nkrumah’s bullet strike from a freekick proved decisive away to rock bottom, Racing.

The former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko winger’s goal  at the Bourj Hammoud Stadium in Beirut enough to hand Tripoli victory in the last of six straight away games in the Lebanon Premier League 2014/15.

It meant that Tripoli consolidated 4th place on the league log on 30 points from 17 games, eight behind runaway leaders, Al Ahed who still have the match day 17 tie in hand at second from bottom, Al Akhaa Al Ahli later on Sunday.

But with all of Tripoli’s last five league games at home, defender Emmanuel Ofori Teyehungmeh is refusing to give up on the title dream and is still hopeful Tripoli will come good in the end especially as they will host all of the top 3, Ahed, Al Ansar and Al Nejmeh.

“Yeah I’m sure we can catch up because those teams ahead of us will be coming to our home in our remaining matches so we must win all,” young Teyehungmeh told Allsports.com.gh exclusively from his Lebanon base.

“Another advantage for us too is that they will play amongst themselves too so I believe there still a chance but it can only be possible if we win all our matches and I’m confident we’ll do just that,” the former Berekum Chelsea and Amidaus Professionals defender,

Meanwhile, Teyehungmeh and Nkrumah’s compatriot, Michael Helegbe still leads the goal king race in the Lebanon Premier League, the former Liberty Professionals and Asante Kotoko forward’s 16 goals pitting him six clear of nearest challenger with five games to go. Follow @thedonplato
