A 78-year-old man identified as Oji Nnachi from Nkelu-Ezi, Ogwuma in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has allegedly defiled a six-year-old girl, Uchechi Udume. New Telegraph reports:
The father of the victim, Nnachi Ndukwe who lamented the defilement, told New Telegraph that blood was gushing out from his daughter’s private part after the incident. He therefore called on the police to investigate the matter and ascertain whether the suspect did not transmit any sexually transmitted disease to the victim.
He blamed the defilement on the absence of his wife; Ogechi, who he said left him and married another man, subjecting him to difficulty in taking proper care of his children as he is always busy looking for money carter for the children.
Explaining the incident, Ndukwe said: ’’I came back from work and saw people gathered in my compound and when I asked what happened, they narrated the incident to me. Then I asked to see my daughter and when she was brought to me I saw blood coming from her private part. “I don’t blame the man, I blame my wife who left me and married another man. Since she left there has been noone around to take proper care of my children.”
The suspect is said to have been arrested by the Afikpo South Police Command. When contacted, the DPO said it is only the State Police Headquarters Abakaliki that can comment on the matter as the Area command has no jurisdiction to speak to New Telegraph.
