Propaganda Will Not Win Election For Buhari, Group Tells APC

A group mobilizing support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election, the Goodluck Lagos Grassroots Project, says propaganda will not save the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, from losing the March 28 election.

“The purpose of an opposition party in any democracy is to put the ruling party on its toes through constructive criticism, but the APC fails to understand this aspect of democratic government,” GLGP said in a statement in Lagos by its Chairman, Alhaji Mufutau Babalola.

“APC failed when graded in all indices of democracy. It has failed to offer useful advice on governance. It also failed to recognise success recorded by President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation agenda in all the sectors of the economy. The only area the opposition has succeeded is using deceit and propaganda to win people’s sympathy.”

According to Babalola, the cabals surrounding the APC Presidential candidate would not allow him win next month’s general elections in the country.

He said that despite the intimidation being mounted against members of the ruling party by the opposition, the PDP will win the forthcoming elections.

The group also challenged Buhari to a public debate with Jonathan. This will show whether he understands the dynamics of Nigeria’s economy.

The group, however, said: “It is certain that the APC is afraid of losing the next presidential election, hence the use of undemocratic means to achieve victory.”
