Match Preview: Hearts of Oak battles Hasaacas at Essipong

Sekondi Hasacass will host Hearts of Oak on match day 10 of the ongoing league as the two sides renew their old age rivalry at the Essipong sports stadium on Sunday, 8th March, 2015.

TEAM NEWS:
Head coach of Sekondi Hasaacas, Yusif Basisgi has returned to duty at the Sekondi-based club after his short stints with the Black Queens [preparing the senior women’s team for an Africa championship].

On the other hand Hasaacas will be missing the services of one of their influential strikers, Samuel Afful who is currently in the camp of the Black Satellite preparing for the AYC championship.

The Phobians also have two players in the camp of the Black Satellite ( Seidu Mutawakilu and Owusu Bempah) but their squad will be boosted with an injury return of Vincent Atinga, Emmanuel Hayford and Thomas Abbey.

MATCH PREVIEW:
Herbert Addo’s men will be searching for their second away win in the ongoing season as Essipong sports stadium has been a fortress ground for the Phobians in the last four seasons. Hearts of Oak have won only once by beating Wassaman 1-0 thanks to Douglas Nkrumah’s 5th minute spot kick.

Both teams will be very cautious on the field of play with Hasaacas being the wounded side after they were beaten 3-1 away to Wa Allstars in Wa on match day 9, however Hasaacas are yet to drop a point at home as they have been very strong in winning all their home games in the current season.ย

The Phobians look much confidence after their Confederation Cup triumph over AS Police. ย Hasaacas are 7th place with 13 points while the Phobians find themselves at the 12th position with 11 points.

HEAD TO HEAD:
Since 1999, the two teams have met 23 times. The Phobians have won 14 times, drawn 5 and lost 4. 58 goals have been scored in this fixture with the Phobians netting 38 and conceding 20. The last time the two teams met was in the 2013/14 second round fixture which Sekondi Hasaacas thrashed Hearts of Oak by 3 goals to nothing with Samuel Afful netting a brace on the day and Augustineย  Arhinful’s exquisitely breath taking goal from a 25 yard free-kick.
