One would think gospel musician Gifty Osei has not been nominated or won awards before considering how excited she is about her nominations in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and the GN Bank’s Awards.

For the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Gifty has been nominated in three categories – Gospel Artiste of the Year, Gospel Album of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year while she has been nominated in the Best Female Musician category in the GN Banks Awards.

In an interview with Graphic yesterday, Gifty expressed her genuine gratitude to organisers of both events for nominating her.

“I worked very hard in 2014 and I am glad they have recognised what I am doing in the gospel industry. I have been nominated in all the gospel categories and that tells me that people appreciate what I do,” she said.

Gifty said she was very optimistic about winning the awards and that she was leaving no stone unturned to achieve that.

“For the GN Bank’s Awards, it is 100 per cent public voting so I am doing a lot of promotion for myself to get people to vote for me. I have been texting a lot myself and I know I will win it,” she said.

In 2012, Gifty won the Gospel Artiste of the Year and the Gospel Album of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and said she did not want to repeat history this year for which reason she would take home the Gospel Song of the Year and the Gospel Artiste of the Year.

Gifty passed an interesting comment that she would have taken all three awards in the categories she had been nominated but she was considering others.

“You see, I am not a greedy person else I would have carried away all three but I will just go for the two I have mentioned and leave the Gospel Album for someone else,” she said.

She went on to say that once she had been nominated, she was already a winner and that she expected God to speak on the day of the awards.

“I trust that God will speak on that day as he has always spoken, I serve a living God and I believe He will speak for me,’’ the obviously optimistic Gifty said.

Gifty Osei announced her presence on the Ghanaian gospel scene in 2007 with her highly popular and successful album, Aseda, following it with Fefeefe in 2010. Her latest album which was released last year is Jesus Be Too Much.
