AshGold Celebrate

The 10th week matches of the First Capital Plus Premier League which went on a week’s break kicks off tomorrow at all the league centres but the crust of the fixtures will be between league leaders Ashgold and second placed Aduana Stars at the Agyeman Badu Park at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

Ashgold, who are managed by one of the finest coaches in the country, Bashiru Hayford, have so far had a smooth season after nine matches and have clocked 22 points while Aduana who are on the heels of the ‘Soccer Miners’ in second place also have 16 points.

But playing at the Agyeman Badu Park, which seems to be a no-go area for most teams, Ashgold’s lead could be threatened if the homesters, led by their skipper Akuoko Emmanuel, who will be supported by the likes of Isaac Amankwaah, Seth Opare Abdul Ganiyu and Daniel Darkwah, should find their rhythm. Knowing the threat Aduana could pose at their backyard, trust coach Hayford to come up with the kind of formation which could neutralise the strategy of the homesters to, at least, secure a point.

The task ahead in tomorrow’s game, therefore places a huge responsibility on Ashgold’s lead goalpoacher Mohammed Yakubu, and others like Lawrence Lartey, Joseph Ato Bissah, Aaron Amoah and Didier Kore, to fight tooth and nail to hold their opponents at bay throughout the entire duration of the match.

From Dormaa-Ahenkro the focus will also be at the Sekondi Sports Stadium at Essipon where boogey side Hasaacas could spoil the party of Accra Hearts of Oak, the CAF Confedration Cup campaigners, who will be using the match as a preparatory ground for their next battle in Senegal. History has it that Hasaacas have on several occasions given the Phobians a run for their money, especially in Sekondi, and tomorrow’s encounter could not be any different.

While their neighbours are playing against Hearts at Sekondi, Tarkwa-based Medeama will be at the Baba Yara Stadium against Kumasi Asante Kotoko who, like Hearts, have not found their feet either and have a continental match at hand.

Similarly, New Edubiase United will engage Berekum Chelsea at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, with Hearts of Lions meeting WAFA at Kpando.

BA United, who have just appointed Mohammed Gargo as their new coach, will also welcome Wa All Stars to the Sunyani Coronation Park, while Liberty Professionals and Accra Great Olympics host Bechem United and Inter Allies at Dansoman and the Accra Sports Stadium respectively.
