The Ghana FA says it is in advanced talks to play two friendly matches during the Fifa free dates this month.

A high-ranking member of the association recently revealed that the football governing body wants to get desired opponents for the Black Stars.

But the Ghana FA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, is now assuring that coach Avram Grant’s Afcon silver-winning team will either be playing two teams in Europe or in Asia.

“We are in the advanced stage of talks with teams for friendly matches in March. We have two Fifa friendly dates and we will want to utilise them,” he told Joy FM.

“By next week I am sure talks will be concluded for an announcement to be made. We could play both matches in Europe or in Asia,” he added.

Ghana were close to an agreement with rivals Nigeria for a friendly in London, but a Fifa rule which frowns on playing two games across continents in 72 hours scuttled the arrangement. Nigeria will host Bolivia in Uyo on March 26.

The Fifa free dates for March fall on March 26-29.
