Three persons have been apprehended by the Kpone District police for allegedly stealing a total of 216 metres from BXC Company, which has been contracted by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to install prepaid meters at Kpone Light Industrial Area near Tema.
Two security officers working for G4S Security detailed to guard BXC Company – Haruna Seidu, 32 and Ampa Benjamin, 24 – are also in hot waters for purportedly aiding Ernest Baflo, the main suspect, to steal the single-phased metres.

There were a total of nine boxes with each box containing 24 pieces of single- phased metres costing GH¢32,000.
According to a statement released from the Public Affairs office of the Tema Regional Police Command on Friday, February 27, 2015, at about 2.30 am, the Kpone police patrol team intercepted an Opel Astra taxi with registration number GS 8279 Y carrying some boxes at the Kpone Industrial Area.
A search was conducted on the vehicle upon suspicion, which led to the discovery of nine boxes containing the metres.
The suspect was said to have confessed stealing the items, with the assistance of two security men working for G4S Security and detailed to guard BXC.
Baflo has been charged with stealing while Benjamin and Seidu have been charged with abetment.
The police have therefore applauded the patrol team for their timely action and alertness which led to the arrest of the suspects and also appealed to members of the public to alert the police of any movement of goods suspected to have been stolen, and also inform the law enforcement agents about other supposed criminal activities
