Vacancy: Kotoko won’t hire an expatriate – PRO

Public Relations Officer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kweku Ahenkorah has said that the club is not interested in a foreign coach for the vacant position.

According to him Kotoko do not have plans of employing any expatriate. ‘Employing an expatriate is not part of our consideration,” Kweku said on Joy fm.ย

“Certain coaches will of course take time to study the terrain and to study our players, get to know what it means to coach in Ghana,’ he added.ย

Asante Kotoko has been without a substantive coach since asking Didi Dramani to proceed on accumulated leave after a poor run of results in the First Capital Plus Bank premier league.ย

There are media reports that many expatriates have applied for the job, but Ahenkorah says they’ll hire a local coach.ย

“It will definitely take time for him to get to know what is expected of him as a Kotoko coach. But for local coaches, of course they know the club. They will definitely have had a bit of experience either coaching some of our players in other clubs.’
