Coach Maxwell Konadu

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has recommended Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah as a possible successor to Mas-Ud Dramani to Asante Kotoko’s Board of Directors.

According to our sources, this was after the Board sent a letter to the Ghana Football Association requesting for Konadu’s services.

Footy-ghana.com understands that Konadu declined the offer but recommended Mintah, who has been working as the Black Stars psychologist.

Our sources say that Board member Frank Appiagyei was spotted with Maxwell Konadu at the Ghana Football Association on Monday afternoon in discussions not long after the letter was delivered.

It is unclear whether Professor Mintah, who was previously the head coach for Dwarfs, will accept to handle Asante Kotoko or not.

In a related development, the management of Asante Kotoko has denied involvement in the move to bring Konadu back to the club.

Sources close to the Opoku Nti-led management have told footy-ghana.com that the move was a joint effort between the power brokers at Manhyia and the Board of Directors, adding that the first time the management got to know was when the letter from the Board of Directors was delivered to the GFA.

Footy-ghana.com understands that the management team still has David Duncan as its preferred candidate to succeed Dramani, who has currently been put on gardening leave by the club.
