Accra Hearts of Oak management led by the General Manager of the club, Gerald Ankrah has rubbished media reports that Board Chairman of the club, Togbe Afede XIV is a dictator.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, Mr. Ankrah said: ‘Since Togbe Afede took over the club as the majority shareholder from 2012, some media houses keep on reporting that the Board chairman dictates to the other Board members but if you look at the caliber of personalities on the club’s Board comprising of Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, Her lordship Ivy Heward-Mills and others, Togbe can’t dictate to them because when coach Duncan’s sacking issue came the Board met thinking of rescinding the decision but Dr Nyaho Tamakloe kicked against it and the Board’s decision stood so on this score how can the Board chairman be a dictator.’
He further mentioned that rumour in the press that Hearts of Oak is broke is false.
‘Hearts of Oak is a big institution and false reportage being peddled around is unfair which automatically affects the image of the club, When the club was about to travel to Benin there was a media report published by Myjoyonline.com, that the club is facing financial difficulties that report was completely false, Hearts of Oak didn’t have any difficulties raising money for the Benin trip; sometimes those reports we see it as a comical statement,’ he added.
On the state of coach Stephen Abugri, the management recounted that, the demotion of Abugri to the club’s Youth team came as a result of the club’s poor streak of results and since they took that stern decision replacing him (Stephen Abugri) with Dauda Luttrodt as the club assistant coach the performance of the club is getting better.
