Jose calling… Mourinho calls wife from Wembley after winning Capital One cup

Jose Mourniho made a phone call to his wife to tell her about winning his first trophy during his second stint at English Premier League club Chelsea.

The Stamford Bridge outfit entertained London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Capital One cup final on Sunday, a tie which Chelsea won by two goals to nil.

John Terry and Diego Costa scored in each halves of the game to win the trophy for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The Chelsea manager was captured on camera making a phone call after his side won the trophy. Mourinho confirmed he delivering the good news to his wife who could not make it to Wembley Stadium for the final.

Jose Mourinho said:
‘I rang my wife, she didn’t know the result. I had my son and my daughter here, but my wife was at home and didn’t know the score until I called.’

The former Real Madrid boss also explained how difficult it was for him to keep his players from getting distracted with the Manchester City versus Liverpool game.

Mourinho revealed:
‘I prepared the players for an impossible mission, which was not knowing the City result. Forget City. I knew that was an impossible mission, but I didn’t want the television on in the hotel or on the bus.

‘I told them I didn’t want any kind of manifestation or disappointment if City scored in the last minute, or Liverpool won. I wanted complete silence. We were successful on that.

‘But one member of my staff, Silvinho, jumped up in the bus. I wanted to kill the guy. He broke the rule.’

Chelsea currently lead the English Premier League log by five points with a game in hand.
