We Empowered Over 350,000 Women, Youth In Kano Within 3-Years – Kwankwaso

Rabiu KwankwasoGovernor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state, has said that over 350, 000 youths and women have directly benefitted from his administration’s skills acquisition and economic empowerment programmes within the last three and a half years.

He also said over 2, 600 citizens of Kano have been sponsored by the government to study mostly post-graduate degrees in 14 countries across the globe.

Kwankwaso made the disclosure during an interactive session with 10, 000 selected beneficiaries of empowerment programmes of the Kwankwasiyya administration held at Kano Government House, Thursday.

According to the governor, his administration aims to build the capacities of the beneficiaries so that they can be useful to themselves and their families and ultimately contribute to the economic sustainability of the state.

Governor Kwankwaso, who expressed joy that the economic empowerment programmes have helped in reducing poverty among citizens of the state, noted that the government’s education policies have also started yielding appreciable results.

“So far, we have spent over N12 billion on overseas scholarships alone and many of the students that benefitted have justified the investment by performing excellently in their respective academic endeavours”, he asserted.

He said noted that government decided to give more priority to education in order to build a solid manpower base for the state, adding that in so doing, development will be fast tracked, thereby making the state more competitive in the scheme of things in the country.

He, therefore, called on people of the state especially beneficiaries of the government’s education and empowerment programmes, to reciprocate his administration’s gesture by voting for All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming general elections.

Gov. Kwankwaso said that his government has done so much to the electorate, emphasizing however, that without the support of the people, all the achievements recorded would not have been possible.

The governor also used the occasion to describe his deputy, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who is the APC gubernatorial candidate in Kano, as the engine room of the present administration.

He expressed the hope that the electorate would vote for Ganduje as his successor to ensure continuity of government’s policies and programmes.

In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, represented by Dangoriban Kano, Alhaji Ado Kurawa, commended the state government for initiating workable policies and programmes.

He then called on people to ensure that they collect their Permanent Voter Cards in order not be disenfranchised, adding that they should also vote for credible candidates of their choices in the forthcoming elections.
