An aspiring assemblyman for the district level elections in the Eggu Electoral Area in the Wa Municipal Assembly in the Upper West Region, Robert Salia, was shot dead by assailants Thursday night.
Robert Salia suffered multiple shots and died instantly in what family members suspect may be a robbery attack.
The deceased, 42, who was also a teacher at St Cecilia JHS, was shot between Eggu and Charia in the Wa Municipality, according to a Joy FM report.
The motorbike he was riding before the attack was taken away, leaving his lifeless body in the middle of the road.
The number plate of the motorbike was disposed of a few meters away from the crime scene.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Wa Regional Hospital awaiting autopsy.
Wa police have confirmed the incident and have begun investigations. This is the second time such an incident has occurred in the area.
