Ex-Ghana captain CK Akunnor has applauded the efforts of the Black Stars video analyst Michael Otchere, stating the quality of his work influenced the nation’s silver medal success at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Black Stars AFCON 2015 scouts Akunnor, Shaibu Tanko and Augustine Ahinful could not monitor Ghana’s group opponents due to challenges with visa acquisition.
Akunnor and Ahinful later arrived in Equatorial Guinea without Tanko on January 5, just two days before the start of the competition.
Though most pundits and fans have attributed the success of the Black Stars at the Nations Cup to coach Avram Grant, Akunnor insists Otchere was instrumental in facilitating the technical team with information on Ghana’s opponents.
“We were all important, but I must make mention of one guy who is very young, very intelligent, he did a lot of work – the video analyst. This guy took us to a different level and we must value his input. Even Avram Grant will tell you how effective this guy is,” Akunnor told Starr Sports.
