#SOTN15: Make local league attractive – President Mahama to GFA

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to pay attention to the local league and make it more attractive and interesting.

Speaking during the State of the Nation Address  in Parliament on Thursday, President Mahama said it was imperative the quality of the local league is improved.

“…also the seeming total neglect of our local football league is a matter of concern to football loving fans,” he said.

“I wish to urge the football association to turn its attention to improving the quality of our local league and work towards making it more attractive, exciting and well following,” he added.

President Mahama also took the opportunity to congratulate the Black Stars for their feat at Equatorial Guinea. “I wish to once again congratulate the senior national team, the Black Stars  for their performance at the 2015 African Cup of Nations tournament…”

He noted that even though many Ghanaians had lost hope in the team after the Brazil debacle the Black Stars “rose from the ashes of Brazil  2014 and proved themselves”.
