A powerful member of the ruling National Democratic Congress in the Western Region, Araba Tagoe, has demanded for respect for players of the Black Stars.

The Regional Women’s Organiser claims the players have been unduly targeted at without justification.

The appearance fee and winning bonuses of the team in major tournaments have become a ritual debate in the West Africa country over the years.

Some fans have questioned the hefty monies paid to them with others questioning their loyalty amid the prevailing harsh economic conditions in the country.

However, the Western Regional NDC Women’s Organiser insists the players deserve every penny.

“Let’s respect the players. Let’s offer constructive criticism not the  which seeks to destroy their international careers,” she told Takoradi-based Aseda FM

“If you insult them, what do you achieve? In fact you gain nothing.

“If they are your brothers would you say they don’t deserve what they are getting?

“Where is the gratuity of players? I want to ask those who keep disturbing our eyes with the constant criticisms. Go and ask old players like Ibrahim Sunday and Razak and let them tell you what they think about monies being paid now.

She continued: During their time they sacrificed for nothing and you want the new generation to continue like that? I don’t think so.

“The team wins silver yet you say they didn’t perform. In this country people talk too much.” she fumed.

While some have hailed the Black Stars silver medal feat at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, others have labeled it celebration of mediocrity.
