Adomonline.com can confirm that Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and his running mate, Mahamadu Bawumia have arrived at the parliament house.
The President is expected to address the nation today which will see him spend more time on the energy crisis facing the nation.
Nana Akufo–Addo, according to Adom News’ Parliamentary Correspondent, Listowell Kwadwo Fordjuor, prayed that the energy crisis would be resolved after the president’s speech.
“We’ve become a deficit Ghana and we want to hear from him something positive as to what is being done to arrest the decline of our economy, give relieve to our people and then begin to put our country back on the growth of expansion.
“Those are the things that we want to hear about. Like any house you want to look at how solid the foundation is, the ideas that they put into the building of Ghana. he said.
Adomonline.coms’ Parliamentary correspondent, Kwaku Nti, who is also at the Parliament, reported that the Minority in Parliament are clad in mourning (red and black) clothes which signifies how unhappy they are with the economy while the majority are clad in white.
He reported that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) had earlier announced that it will change phases to ensure uninterrupted power supply and so urged anyone using electric appliances to turn it off to avoid embarrassment.
Security at Parliament is said to be very tight.
Government’s negotiation for a financial bailout with the International Monetary Fund is also expected to be a key feature in President Mahama’s address.
