Stalemate: Medeama held to a 1-1 draw by Liberty

Medeama SC were held to a one-all draw by Liberty Professionals on the match day 9 fixture of the First Capital Plus Premier League played at the Tarkwa T and A Park. 

Tom Strand’s [Medeama coach] boys haven lost last weekend’s fixture against Bechem United came out roaring like a hungry lion. They almost scored in the 2nd minute when Kwame Boahen unleashed a powerful drive which beat Kwaku in post for Liberty Professionals but went inches wide. 

The home team continued to press for the opener which came on the 9th minute. Nathaniel Asamoah beat Liberty goalkeeper, Kwaku after an intelligent inter play between Boahen to put the Mauves and Yellows noses in front.

Liberty Professionals responded to the call and almost drew level five minutes later. It was Liberty who dictated play but could not find an equaliser. They created chances upon chances, but were wasteful in their final touches. 

Liberty Professionals came back a rejuvenated side in the 2nd half after the introduction of Jafaru.

His immediate presence was felt when he interchange play with Kennedy Ashia, but his final strike was deflected for a corner. The resulting corner from Tanimu found the head of Mensah, but he missed narrowly. 

Nurudeen Ali got the equalizer for the Scientific Soccer lads exactly on the hour mark after taking a pass from outside the Medeama box and unleashed a low shot which beat Foli Adade in post for Medeama.

Tom Strand pushed his lads forward to get the winner; but Liberty stood their grounds to earn a vital away point.
