Noah Martey is enjoying every bit of life on the football pitch for Bechem United in the First Capital Plus Ghana Premier League.
The 19 year old rejected by national U-20 team selectors scored again on Wednesday afternoon to power Bechem United to a 2-0 victory over Great Olympics in a match day 9 fixture at the Bechem Park.
Martey has conjured up a perfect response to his unbelievable omission from the 24-man Black Satellites squad that left Ghana last Friday for preparations in Turkey ahead of the 2015 Africa Youth championship in Senegal. Barely 48 hours after being snubbed by Coach Sellas Tetteh, Martey scored to help Bechem beat Medeama and three days later, he’s done it again.
Not only did his opener set his side on the way to the three precious points on offer against Olympics, Martey continued with his impressive form in the local league after scoring in an unprecedented 5th straight game in the 9-match old season to increase his tally for the campaign to 6 playing from defensive midfield.
It also means that Martey also moves atop the scoring charts jointly with Hearts of Oak’s Gilbert Fiamenyo and Yakubu Mohammed of Ashantigold.
Teh three points garnered against Olympics also push the Brong Ahafo side up the Ghana Premier League log to 8th place on 13 points.
Bechem next travel to Accra to face Liberty Professionals when Ghana’s top flight league resumes on March 8 with match day 10. Follow @thedonplato
