Helsingborg’s Ghanaian midfielder, Ema Boateng has stated he wants to be a medical doctor after hanging his football boots.
Boateng, a graduate from Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, completed High School and University in America before signing for the Swedish side in 2013.
“My goal is to continue to be a doctor, but it is perhaps more realistic that it becomes something that does not take as long,” Boateng told HD.
“There are well-trained doctors in my country but far fewer than needed. The system is wrong. My goal is to help.
“If even I don’t become a doctor I want to be something that can help health care in my country. I am where I am because my country made possible it through parents, teachers and friends,” Boateng said.
Boateng who also has an ambition of playing in a major European league before he retires added that he wants to achieve something meaningful in football.
“I would of course play in the top leagues. It is hard work to get there, but I’m only 21 years old and have time ahead of me. At the end of my career, I want to be able to look back and be happy with what I achieved. If I get a good career, I also want to use my influence to help others. It needs not be in football,” he added.
