Gunner in waiting? Arsenal considering Donsah as Pogba alternative

English Premier League hotshots, Arsenal are seriously considering Ghanaian youngster, Godfred Donsah as an alternative to Paul Pogba should Arsene Wenger fail to land the Gunners’ top target.

Arsenal continue to be linked with Paul Pogba who is currently on the books of Serie A champions, Juventus, with reports suggesting the Gunners are prepared to “pay any amount” to sign the 21-year-old midfielder, £80 million the rumoured figure.

But with Pogba also linked to a host of top clubs including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and United, it seems Arsenal are unlikely to swoop for the former Manchester United starlet, why they have turned attention to Godfred Donsah, another central midfielder who is a more realistic target

At just 18 years old, Donsah has shown enormous potential, and is being tracked by Premier League champions, Manchester City who like Arsenal, sent scouts to watch him in action for Cagliari against Inter Milan in a Serie A game on Monday night.

The player’s agent, Oliver Arthur has confirmed that Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool have all made official enquiries about Donsah who has appeared 15 times in Serie A this season, scoring twice with one assist to boot.

“Donsah is talented on the ball and provides good link-up play for those around him. He could also improve drastically under Wenger’s tutelage,” a Bleacher Report noted.

“Arsenal need added strength in the centre of the park—an area in which they have been arguably lacking since the days of Patrick Vieira—and with a Pogba deal unlikely, Donsah could be an exciting alternative,” it added. Follow @thedonplato
