Ghana winger Christian Atsu has been in fantastic shape for Everton

On-loan winger Christian Atsu has revealed to Everton’s official website that all he wants to do is entertain and put a smile on fans’ faces.

The Ghana international joined the Toffees on loan from Chelsea in the summer but has failed to make a big impact at Goodison Park since he joined.

However, Atsu is convinced he can carry on his fine form in the African Cup of Nations, where he was awarded with player and goal of the tournament.

Atsu said : “I came here to put smiles on the faces of the fans.

“At the start things were not going as well but after the AFCON I am full of confidence and ready to give my best to the team.”

The pacey winger made a lively cameo in the 2-2 drew with Leicester City on the weekend and delivered the cross which resulted in the late equaliser for Everton.

Atsu created two chances in his 35 minutes on the pitch against Leicester.

The Chelsea loanee has only four appearances for the club and has only started one of them.

Atsu has averaged more chances per 90 minutes ( 3.08) than any Everton player.

Roberto Martinez’s side are currently in 12th position in the league, having failed to recapture the pace and work-rate which made Everton so good last year.

Everton face BSC Young Boys in their second leg of the Europa League. The Toffees are currently 4-1 from the first game, with Lukaku scoring a hat-trick against the Swiss club.

Atsu has won 3 out of 5 take ons this season (60%)
