Bawumia, Alan storm Kumasi for Yabr Demo

The anti-government demonstration currently ongoing in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, has been given a major boost with the appearance of the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia at the demonstration grounds.

The protest dubbed โ€œYabrร‰โ€บโ€, to wit, [we are tired] is being organised by a pro-opposition group, Movement for Change.

The group is demonstrating over what its leaders describe as the harsh economic conditions in the country and the worsening power crisis.

The demonstration comes on the back of last week’s โ€œWon Gboโ€ protest march by the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Last week’s march, which was led by the flagbearer of the main opposition NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, was to express the frustration of Ghanaians to government about the power situation which has plagued the nation for a few years.

Dr Bawumia, a former bank of Ghana deputy governor and former flagbearer-aspirant Alan Kyerematen are among a host of other NPP bigwigs who have joined the demonstrators,ย  Starr News’ย Isaac Bediako Justice reports.

Thousands of people have reportedly showed up for the demonstration.
