Violence erupted today at Oshodi axis of Lagos State when two rival thugs clashed, leading to the death of at least two persons, who are yet-to-be identified.
More than 12 vehicles were burnt and 15 others vandalized. Several properties were also reportedly destroyed during the clash.
Both factions were members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and were affiliated to the two major political parties in the state, reports Vanguard. Plans to control the parks in the axis ahead of the general elections next month were said to have heightened the fracas.
The brawl, which lasted for over five hours was stopped from getting worse by a combined team of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and other security officials in the state quelled it.
The crisis was said to have started last Thursday but was quelled by the police officers attached to the Mosafejo Police Station, Oshodi, after two buses were set ablaze by the hoodlums.
