Teshie, Feb. 24, GNA – Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, has advised civil servants to focus on the design and implementation of government programmes and policies and not to turn their workplaces into political platforms.
According to him, it not only against the ethics of the Service for civil servant to be political but that it was obligatory and logical for them to support any government elected by the people to govern them.
Mr Afotey Agbo was addressing workers of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) as part of his tour of the Municipality.
He said top civil servants who dealt directly with political heads of Metropolitan, Municipality and District Assemblies should be more professional, patriotic and honest in order to accelerate the development of the country.
‘You must also lead by example, ‘he said. ‘You must inspire your subordinates and together we all make Ghana a better place for all.’
The Regional Minister cautioned revenue task force members of the Assembly to desist from pocketing money that they collect in taxes and levies.
He called on the Assembly to block leakages in revenue collection and devise more innovative ways of generating more funds.
Mr Seth Badu Tawiah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of LEKMA, said the assembly realized three million Ghana Cedis as Internally Generated Funds (IGF) in 2014.
He said the Assembly had embarked on many projects, including the resealing of and resurfacing of roads, and the building of toilets and schools.
