West African Football Academy coach John Killa has praised his ‘young’ team for securing a famous draw away at defending champions Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
The champions, playing under stand-in coach Michael Osei failed to get the much-needed win against the Premier League newcomers before their home fans in Kumasi.
Kotoko were unsurprisingly poor on the day and were unable to make the few chances that came their way count.
They were outrun by the young WAFA lads especially in the first half.
Killa lauded his youngish squad for matching up to the might of the Ghanaian giants in securing the vital point.
“Before the League started I had to say bye bye to four players who are now playing in Portugal,” he said.
“We had to bring in sixteen players and you could see how well they did against Kotoko.
“The team played very well especially in the first half, we kept the ball very well and limited the chances for the opponents.”
WAFA remained 8th in the First Capital Plus Premier League after eight rounds of matches.
