Ghana defender John Boye is surprisingly vying for the best goal of the season in the Turkish top-flight as his classic acrobatic goal helped his club Erciyesspor to an emphatic victory over the weekend.
Boye opened the scoring for Kayseri Erciyesspor as they thumped Konyaspor 3-0 on Friday night in the Turkish Super Lig but the style of the goal has already hit the headlines in Turkey, Ghana’s leading football news website GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations silver medalist finished off a move on 19 minutes thanks to an assist from Cenk Ahmet Alkilic.
Boye, who is a central defender, found himself in the box and when the ball ventured near him with his back facing the post, the Ghana international acrobatically turned the ball in with what looked liked a striker’s finish.
All the big Turkish television stations and newspapers have been highlighting the goal of the Ghanaian defender as the best the league so far this season.
Boye has now scored two goals in 13 appearances for Kayseri Erciyesspor.
