Take this Borbor: Noah Martey hits Bechem United winner 48 hours after Satellites snub

Noah Martey has given Black Satellites coach, Sellas Tetteh something to worry about after hitting the winner for club side, Bechem United barely 48 hours after getting dropped from the national U-20 squad that travelled to Turkey on Friday for pre-tournament camping ahead of the 2015 Africa Youth championship.

The teenager was a surprise omission from Coach Tetteh’s 24-man squad that will camp in Turkey for two weeks before getting pruned down to 21 ahead of their arrival in Senegal three days to the commencement of the March 8-22 tournament.

Already hailed by his agent, Oliver Arthur as the best player in the Ghanaian top flight, young Martey scored again this weekend to underline his credentials for the Ghana Premier League’s MVP award come end of season, just days after he was dropped from the Black Satellites squad for the Africa U-20 Cup.

The 19-year old had scored 4 and provided an assist prior to the match day 8 round of fixtures in the Ghana Premier League and he was at it again, converting from the spot in the 80th minute as Bechem came from a goal down at halftime to beat Medeama SC 2-1.

It not only helped Bechem United secure three precious points but on individual milestone note, Martey becomes the first player to score in four consecutive Ghana Premier League matches this season after previously netting against Ashantigold, WAFA and Berekum Chelsea.

It means that Martey now moves on to 5 goals plus 1 assist in 8 league games this term, jumping atop the top scorer standings level with Hearts of Oak’s Gilbert Fiamenyo and Berekum Chelsea duo, Stephen Baffour Asare and Kofi Owusu.

The victory also pushes Bechem’s points build up to 10 in 10th spot on the Ghana Premier League log on the back of 3 victories and a draw from the opening eight games of the new campaign. Follow @thedonplato
