P-UNIT BREAKS THE BARRIERS TO TAKE AFRICA BY STORM

Nairobi 23rd February 2014
While their hit track “WEKA WEKA” continues to dominantly feature at the top of the local charts, two time Channel O award winners P Unit pace further to take Africa by storm through the release of a new hit song titled “DIFFERENT” featuring the award-winning Nigerian afro pop/R&B artiste, song-writer, composer, actress and entertainer Yemi Alade.

The new hit track “ DIFFERENT “ sees the dynamic trio once again bring to life the diversity of Genge music through a seismic blend with afro beat style popularly reknown in the West African market. The song produced by Taurus Musik sets the tone for P Unit’s 2015 plan that intends to vivaciously boost their cross over strategy by making inroads further across the African continent and beyond. In the past two years, the band has had massive success across the continent and beyond through the release of four hit songs “YOU GUY” featuring Collo, “MOBIMBA “ featuring Alicious and their singles “LOVE” and “WEKA WEKA”

In a press release shared with Djs and radio stations worldwide today, P-Unit’s Gabu says,” We are ready to take Africa by storm the band has an aggressive 5 year strategy aimed at not only branding Kenya as the home of true musical talent but also to demonstrate that music can be a successful career to inspire youth interested in pursuing a journey similar to P Unit.”

Responding to the choice of Yemi Alade for this collaboration Boneye of P Unit adds, “For P Unit music is not a hobby, it is serious business and just like any good business people when in pursuit of a business venture you aim to work with the best. We keep a close tab of all the great talent across the globe and more particularly in Africa and in so doing Yemi’s musical journey was one we have followed with keen interest and the prowess she has shown particularly in the past two years with the release of hit tracks that include ‘Johnny” we knew we were a perfect match. We got in touch with her producer through Taurus Musik and the rest as they say is history.”

Taurus Musik CEO Ikechukwu Anoke adds,” We at Taurus Musik believe strongly in fostering the growth of the Kenyan music scene. In order to facilitate this, it is necessary to have East African music making the cross over into the rest of the continent. By facilitating this monster collaboration between East and West Africa, we believe that we are facilitating the ambition that P Unit has cut for themselves.”

“We are also excited at the release of “DIFFERENT” as a prelude for Naija Nite – a concert production in conjunction with Taurus Events – in April. The essence of Naija Nite is the coming together of great performers from East & West Africa in a night of first class entertainment from their fans. We are also working on having similar concerts in Nigeria to provide platforms for Kenyan talent and music to infiltrate the West African market.”

“Our focus this year is to dominate the Africa charts, delight our fans, mentor upcoming youth and of course make money” concludes Frasha of P Unit.
