Haruna Iddrisu Minister Trade

The Deputy National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Nuhu Mahama says his party has discovered the tricks the Tamale South constituency of the NDC used in winning previous elections and is ready stop the trend in 2016.

Mr Mahama, among other things, claimed the use of minors in that constituency accounted for the party’s loss and their inability to capture the seat in the 2012 election.

He also mentioned their failure to get representatives at the coalition center as another reason for their defeat.

Having found the solution, he is certain the NPP would get rid of the Member of Parliament of Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, in the 2016 elections.

The Deputy National Organizer who was addressing party supporters at a rally in the Tamale South Constituency to kick start their campaign towards 2016, said officials at the headquarters have doubts that Haruna Iddrisu can be ousted.

“Accra is aware of what is happening in the Tamale South today, and sometimes when you tell them we can win the seat they tell you Haruna is too strong, but we have discovered their ways and must stop them.”

Mr Mahama said in 2016, the NPP must win by hook or crook; adding that it’s a must win election.

He called on the youth to get their colleagues on board because they need the numbers.

Mr Mahama called on the youth to ensure they police the ballot because it is the most important thing; “all this work we are doing today if we don’t police the ballot we are still going to be declared losers of the election”.

He said he did not trust the Electoral Commission, therefore the party needs to work very hard and win massively to prevent anybody from manipulating the results.

Deputy National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha said the NDC government has failed because of the penchant to loot and share the nation’s scarce resources.

He said the 2016 election is an election for the youth and charged the youth to put in all effort to vote Nana Addo and his parliamentary candidates.

“We are charged with the responsibility to win the election and if we fail it means we the youth have failed the country”.

The Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Nabu, on his part, said President Kufuor cut the sod for the construction of the Kukuo market, but 7 years down the line, the market is still same. He said people in the region are dying because the Tamale Teaching Hospital has failed to live up to standard, and called on the Minister of Health to intervene.

Mr. Bugri Nabu alleged that the NDC has never won an election in the history of Ghana, adding they have stolen in every election. He said the NDC intends to bring in foreigners to vote in the 2016 election; a plan they have uncovered. He called on the people of the region not to allow themselves to be deceived with money and other gifts.

The Northern Regional women’s Organiser, Hajia Amama Sayibu, accused the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, of supply foodstuffs and telling the people lies to earn their votes. She added that in the past, he used the conflict between the Abudu and Andani as a campaign tool but added that, that would not work this time. Hajia Amama called on all to join hands and whisk the seat from the NDC and Honorable Haruna Iddrisu.

She outlined some development projects under the late Mustapha Ali when he was MP for Tamale South, and challenged Honorable Haruna Iddrisu to show people of the constituency what he has done as an MP.
