Manifest Obrafour Madina

Support and love for Madina by prominent artists was evident on Saturday, February 21 as they graced the second edition of the Madina Block Party with electric performances.

By the time Okyeame Kwame came on stage in the early hours of Sunday morning to deliver a pulsating set replete with a talking drum, the crowd had been treated to full sets by Obrafour, Edem, Guru, Kwaw Kese, Yaa Pono, Dee Money, Gemini and Pope Skinny to name a few of the musicians who came through. The Party’s host, M.anifest delivered strong cameos stitching together sets of disparate elements.

Vodafone Icons runner up Ratty was also in Madina and showed the lyrical wit that propelled him to recognition on the hit television show.

Kwaw Kese, the man insane and self-professed King of the Streets was in his element, energized by the frenzied response of the crowd to his entrance. What the crowd fed him in energy, he gave back in equal measure with an act infused at points with self-deprecation.

Obrafour soaked up all the love, going through hit after hit from his extensive discography and delivering on some newer collaborative work. A highlight was the first time ever performance of “No Shortcut to Heaven” by M.anifest and Obrafour and his hit single ‘Kasiebo’ with Guru.

In what is fast becoming the most sought after event organized in Madina, the Block Party brought together a collection of top artists as well as less recognized acts such as Grey, Stargyal, Jerry1, Jahmind, Emperor slim and Lostical. Stargyal stole the hearts of many with her dancehall numbers, stage presence and her supreme confidence.

Joy TV’s Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng aka “Bra Chef” and Doctor of Verbs pub fame were the presenters on the evening. Madina-born Blitz the ambassador, fresh off the Accra leg of an African tour blessed the Block Party stage with his own exciting brand of Hip Hop. Soulful singer Irene Logan was also on hand to lend support to M.anifest.

The event was special for many as this is the closest some come to the stars whose music they adore.

M.anifest who hosts the Block Party every year to thank his loyal Madina fans for all their support promised to keep growing the Block Party experience. With the support and cooperation of the Madina Police, the La-Nkwantanang Assembly, Verbs Pub and White Chapel Security, The Block Party has definitely come to stay.

This year’s event was made possible through the kind generosity of Alomo Silver and expressPay.
