Kotoko’s problems masks deeper cracks in Hearts of Oak as Phobians slip into relegation zone

Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have bigger problems as the club is sinking but the recent coaching woes at their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko have resulted in no media interest in the misery at the Accra-based club which is allowing the leaders to get away with it.

The Phobians are languishing in the relegation zone after the weekend’s matches in the Ghanaian top-flight which highlights the recent unimpressive showing of the 2000 African champions.

Hearts suffered a second defeat in a row as they lost 1-0 to Heart of Lions in their Match day 8 game played at the Kpando Stadium on Sunday.

The defeat sees the Phobians slip to relegation zone with just a point above sixteenth placed BA United.

There is already pressure for club owner Togbe Afede to relinquish his stranglehold of the club to allow other experienced previous administrators who are currently not part of management to help steer the club in the right direction.

Former club management member Aziz Futah wants supporters to buy back the club from Togbe but there are many thinkers in the club who opine that improving the administration of the club with former members like Harry Zakkour, Alhaji Hearts and Thomas Okine will boost the fortunes of the club.

The problems at Hearts of Oak has not received the necessary attention and commentary from the Ghanaian media because of Kotoko’s controversial sacking of Masud Didi Dramani.

The sacking of the talented coach has dominated media headlines which has allowed Togbe Afede and coach Herbert Addo to escape the negative attention that comes with the current state of the club.
