I’m Fulfilling A Promise I Made To Late Prez MillsKoku Anyidoho

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho has sworn to stop all communicators at the Presidency from sinking the image of President John Dramani Mahama and the party with their snobbish approach to communication.

According to him, people who have not been elected executives but are only appointees around the President, will not be allowed to put up a semblance of importance than the party (NDC) by disregarding party orders with the excuse of being government communicators.

Speaking on  Oman Fm ‘s  “National Agenda”  program, the former Director of Communication at the Presidency under the late President Mills said the NDC is supreme; adding that experience has taught him to be circumspect with utterances as he nearly lost his job over his ‘ heads must roll ‘ comment he made a couple of years back.

‘ I almost got my head rolled off when there was a ‘black-out’ at the Kumasi Sports Stadium and so if today, years down the line there is no justification, why do you want to insult professionals at VRA?…if you do that you create problems for us…..the party is supreme and so let no appointee around the President think that he is more important than the party, ‘ Koku Anyidoho cautioned.

To him, government communicators must abort the mindset of being above the party’s General Secretary to the extent of telling the host of radio stations to ignore statements from the Chief Scribe and rather accept opinions from government communicators.

He however revealed that his stance to defend President John Dramani Mahama is borne out of the promised he made to the late President John Evans Atta Mills to serve John Mahama loyally and in truth all times.

‘ President Mills, before he met his untimely death, he told me that ‘ Koku, when the opportunity present itself, Koku, serve John as loyally and truthfully as you have served me ‘; that is what I am doing and I don’t have to be the director of communication at the Presidency but I will serve President Mahama as truthfully and loyally as I served the late President Mills…..it is not about plain feelings; it is about the truth because that’s the only way you can achieve results ‘, he stated.

He however called on his party folks to join him to resist government appointees from destroying the ruling NDC with their unguarded utterances about professionals who are doing their best to restore the energy situation as this behavior has the propensity to sink the image of President Mahama and the party.
