Stand-in New Edubiase coach Thomas Ampomah has slammed referee Emmanuel Ansah for their 3-2 defeat in the Adansi derby against AshGold on Sunday.

A late penalty converted by Yakubu Mohammed – to complete a hat trick – secured the win for the Miners who strengthened their grasp of top spot in the First Capital Plus Premier League.

New Edubaise looked set to secure a point off AshGold when Nuhu Fuseini made it two all from the spot in the second half.

But Yakubu returned to have the final say with his converted but controversial penalty kick to win it for the away side at the Len Clay Stadium.

Amponsah had issues with officiating and said football in Ghana cannot progress under such conditions.

“The referee made the difference today, he handed AshGold the win,” he said after the game.

“I will not mince words and I am not a small boy in football, we were clearly robbed today.

“AshGold is a big club, we all know that but we are a small club also trying to make a name for ourselves.

“Football cannot progress in this country with this kind of refereeing.”
