Yakubu Mohammed scores hat trick to help Ash Gold beat New Edubiase

League leaders Ashanti Gold’s blushes were spared as they secured a 3-2 away win against New Edubiase.

Edubiase looked set to secure at point in the game, only to suffer a late heartbreak as Yabuku Mohammed scored his third goal of the day to give the Miners a valuable win in the Adansiman derby played at the Obuasi Lenclay Stadium on Sunday.

Nuhu Fuseini put the home team in front in the 17th minute, before Yakubu scored his first goal of the day.

Yakubu scored his second of the day in the 40th minute to give Ash Gold a 2-1 advantage at half time.

Fuseini however leveled matters in the second half when he converted a penalty to grab a brace.

AshantiGold were also awarded a penalty a minute to full time and Yakubu converted to seal his hat trick as well as hand his team the three points.

Meanwhile, Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a second defeat in a row as they lost 1-0 to Heart of Lions in their Match day 8 game played at the Kpando Stadium on Sunday.

The defeat sees the Phobians slip to relegation zone with just a point above sixteenth placed BA United.

Lions on the other hand have moved into the top four, lying below Ash Gold, Aduana Stars and Hasaacas.
