GOtv Ghana Limited holds 5th raffle draw


Accra, Feb. 21, GNA – GOtv Ghana Limited, at the weekend held its last draw of the raffle campaign dubbed: ย  ‘GOtv GYE WO DIE3 PROMO’, in Accra to reward its existing and new subscribers.

Among the 77 winners were Janet Alorworebor, Princess Akuteh, Alice Kumah, Daniel Amankwah, George Kyere, Samuel Adusei, Avokey, Cynthia Gaisah, Alfred Ansah Bill, and Alexander Konadu.

They won various items including a 32-inch and 55-inch Hisense led TV, sandwich toaster, alarm panels, home theatre, walker 7, goody bags, tablet and a weekend voucher for couples; however Mr Stephen Nkrumah, who lives at Obuasi won the ultimate prize of the promotion, being a TATA Saloon car.

The nationwide promotion which registered about 6,000 subscribers was in collaboration with the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) on the Caritas Lottery Platform, with Hisense, Airtel Money, BUKA Restaurant and Master Alarms, as its sponsors.

Addressing the Media, Mr Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, the Managing Director of GOtv Ghana Limited, noted that the company had already given out 280 prizes to the winners and had 77 prizes left for the grand finale.

The Managing Director thanked Hisense and other partners for contributing towards the success of the raffle campaign.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Sunkwa-Mills said GOtv after it had been launched two years ago, had exciting entertainment products with high patronage, and due to this growth rate there was a need to reward its loyal subscribers, to increase subscription as well as to keep the excitement going.

He said GOtv would support the digital migration process even though there were challenges; ‘there is infrastructure so we have been speaking to regulators and partners’, he added.

He therefore, urged all to subscribe as the company prepares to add more content especially in the area of sports where subscribers could get the opportunity to watch the local premier league. ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

Mr Kingsley Winfred Afful, the Business Manager of GOtv Ghana Limited, told GNA that the promotion had been a wonderful experience, as the company seeks to thrill its subscribers who came on board during the festive season, as well as to reward existing subscribers with various prizes for their loyalty.

He said the company after introducing a new channel two weeks ago, the, ‘Zee TV’, an Indian channel where subscribers could enjoy Indian movies, would again introduce more channels at the end of the month.

The Business Manager congratulated the winners, and urged the public to purchase the GOtv decoders.

Speaking to the GNA Mr Ohene Djan, representative of the NLA, who supervised the draw, said the Authority is the only government institution mandated to regulate and supervise such draws, to ensure that the right procedures in selecting winners are used.

He explained that, the NLA brings companies running various promotions under the ‘Caritas Platform’ to ensure fairness, adding that ‘most people are holding draws with fishy results and winners cannot be verified’.

Mr Djan said proceeds from the promotion would go a long way to help facilitate development in the area of education, portable water, culture and health.

Ms Rose Ofori Djan, the Sales Manager of Hisense, in an interview, said the company being dealers in electronics gadgets of which television sets are one of their key products, and knowing the content GOtv provides as an entertainment company; there was a need to associate with the raffle campaign.

She said the company had successfully worked with GOtv Limited, ‘and we are still partnering with them again on this GYE WO DIE3 PROMO, since it is linked to their products’, she added.

Ms Ofori-Djan therefore, used the occasion to inform the public about Hisense’s project which is currently running in partnership with the Energy Commission, as it spearheads the campaign to cut down energy consumption in the country.

‘Visit any of our showrooms and exchange your old refrigerators with our brand new energy efficient ones,’ she stated.
