Afriyie Acquah handed starting role in Sampdoria’s Serie A derby clash against Genoa

Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah has been named in Sampdoria’s starting line-up to face Genoa in Saturday’s Derby della Lanterna on Saturday night at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.

It will be the first home match for the January signing who marked his full debuted last Sunday in the 2-1 defeat at Chievo Verona.

Acquah has emerged as first team favourite for coach Sinisa Mihajlovic since joining the club last week after his exploits at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He is on a six-month loan spell from TSG Hoffenheim having spent the first half of the season at Parma.
