Race for GFA Presidency: Randy Abbey ‘Movement’ step up campaign

With the countdown to the 2015 GFA Congress and elections ever urging closer to the D-day, the friends of Randy Abbey have stepped up their campaign for the Heart of Lions owner to become the next boss of Ghana football.

The GFA Executive Committee member has yet to formally declare interest in the top post but his admirers are leaving no stone unturned in their determination to unseat the current man in the helm of affairs, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The leading friends of Randy Abbey, Kwabena Agyei, famously nicknamed Bush K and his friends, Adusah have taken their Randy Abbey for GFA President high tech following the release of new branded T-shirts and even campaign name on Thursday.

They came out with some wacky campaign shirts somewhere last year but this new shirt is of higher quality and a clear indication that they mean business. This has the inscription ‘Bring Randy Now’ at the back and ‘We want Randy Abbey to be GFA President Movement’ on the crest in front.

The group also released a press statement calling on Abbey to step forward and rescue Ghana football from what they perceive as a sinking ship under Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Nyantakyi has held the fort in charge of the administration of Ghana football since stepping in as interim Chairman following the resignation of Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe in 2005, taking the position full time following an historic Congress and elections under the tutelage of world football governing body, FIFA.

The Wa All Stars chief was voted into a second term in office in 2011 and has already declared intentions to bid for a third term even after gaining a position on the CAF Executive Committee.

Abbey had been Nyantakyi’s right hand man along with Fred Pappoe but it’s believed they have fallen out even as they all serve on the GFA Executive Committee. Follow @thedonplato
