Lucrative job: 10 foreign coaches apply for Kotoko post

Opoku Nti, CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has revealed that not less than ten foreigners have applied to become the new coach of the club.

The Ghana champions are on the market hunting for a new helmsman after dismissing Mas-Ud Didi Dramani at the beginning of this week.

Media reports had indicated Kotoko were in talks with ex-Ashantigold and Hearts of Oak trainer, David Duncan to be the new boss even before Dramani’s sack was confirmed.

Duncan has been jobless since getting the sack himself from Kotoko’s bitter rivals, Hearts two seasons ago even though Great Olympics have just dragged him to the GFA Status Committee for unceremoniously walking out on a purported appointment.

But the Kotoko CEO insists the club have not made a choice yet, stating that a new coach will be announced next week amid revealing a widespread interest in the job including bids from a host of expatriates.

‘As I speak to you, I have received about ten CVs from foreign coaches but no decision has been taken yet,’ Opoku Nti told Asempa FM.

‘Hopefully by the middle of next week, we will announce our new coach,” the legendary former player added.

After seven games of the new season, Kotoko have amassed a paltry 8 points from a possible 21 with the 3-time defending champions already tasting three defeats including back-to-back losses to eternal rivals, Hearts of Oak in Kumasi as well as Ashanti Regional rivals, Ashantigold in Obuasi.

The Porcupine Warriors who gained a walkover in the CAF Champions’ League, sit in 10th place in the Ghana Premier League and trail leaders, Ashantigold by an almost unassailable 10 points. Follow @thedonplato
