General News of Thursday, 19 February 2015
Former Defense Minister in the Kufuor administration, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor has described the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as ‘indisciplined’.
Dr Addo Kufuor, who also served as Health Minister, says the erratic power supply which has made life uncomfortable for almost everyone, is a reflection of indiscipline amongst the leaders of Ghana, and the President has chosen to turn a blind eye and take no action.
There is a supply deficit which has led to the shedding of between 440 and 650 megawatts during off-peak and peak hours, instead of a planned 250 and 350 Megawatts.
Power Minister Dr Kwabena Donkor has said the government is working on the situation and promised to resign by the end of 2015 if the situation persists after the deadline, but many have dismissed the pledge as mere political talk.
To buttress this belief, the New Patriotic party (NPP) hit the streets of Accra on Wednesday on a ‘Won Gbo’ demonstration to express their frustrations with the power crisis.
Dr. Addo Kufuor, in an interview with Adomonline.com’s Kwaku Nti, said the demonstration is meant to draw the President’s attention to the struggles of the ordinary Ghanaian.
“The dumsor is actually killing people and destroying properties and so Mahama should change how he is managing the economy because it is very bad.
“…because of the indiscipline in the government, leaders in various fields are doing what they want and are destroying our country for us. He should stop toying with us” he warned.
