Former Kotoko defender Joseph Ochaya thrilled to be playing again after FIFA clearance

After close to a year out of competitive football, Joseph Ochaya made his second debut for Kampala City Council FC following a clearance by FIFA to leave Ghana side Asante Kotoko.

The versatile player featured for 90 minutes as the Ugandan league champions beat Entebbe FC 1-0 in their 2014/15 Uganda Premier League second round opener at Bugonga, Entebbe.

“It was like a dream playing football again,” Ochaya told www.kccafc.co.ug. “It feels nice to play after such a long period,” he added.

Ochaya unceremoniously left Asante Kotoko last year alleging the club of blocking his move to German and has since been inactive till FIFA intervened by clearing him to join a club of his choice last week.

The lanky left fullback cum midfielder played in midfield at Bugonga and received some praise from his coach Abdallah Mubiru.

“He needs more games and you could see he was played out of position today but he gave his all. We are glad as a club to see him play football again and with games under his belt, expect a much effective player.”
