Asamoah Gyan tasted defeat on his return to club duties as Al Ain slumped to a 1-0 loss to Al Fujairah on Thursday evening.
The 29-year-old who only returned to his base in the UAE days ago after helping Ghana win silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations started and finished the game as captain for the Boss.
His joyous return however ended in heartache as Boubacar Sanogo’s 65 th minute strike proved enough to give the hosts the win.
Zlatko Dalic side thus failed to claim top spot in the Arabian Gulf League as they remain second – level on points with leaders Al Jazira.
