Why Buhari Shelved Visit To Chibok – Campaign Spokesman

Muhammadu BuhariThe visit of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to Chibok, in Borno State, was put off at the last minute on Tuesday due to the tight schedule and the mammoth crowd that opted to follow the flag bearer to the deserted town.

Chibok is the scene of Boko Haram’s abduction of over 200 girls of Government Secondary School, on April 14, 2014, while preparing for their final examinations.

Confirming the postponement of the visit, the Director of Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Garba Shehu, said Buhari was initially scheduled to visit the parents of the abducted girls on Tuesday.

“He (Buhari) was scheduled to visit, but the enormity of the crowd (apart from the rally and a visit to the Shehu of Borno) made everything impossible. A date for Chibok is under consideration”, Shehu said.
