Elite Cup: Medeama beat Eleven wise 2-1

Premier league side Medeama SC won 2-1 at home to division one side Sekondi Eleven Wise in the first leg of the Elite Cup third round.

Substitute Bismark Oppong scored a brace in three minutes to give the Yellow and Mauves a sweet lead in the 65th and 68th minutes after which Vincent Bekoe pulled one back for Wise in the 82nd minutes.

The opener from the midfielder was a tap in from six yards to a cut back from Dominic Eshun.

Minutes later, Eshun was impeded by Johannes Bordoh just inside the box in a similar move that produced the first goal for referee O.B Amankwah to award a penalty.

Oppong converted the spot kick despite goalkeeper Samuel Adjei getting a touch to the ball.

Eshun was offered a chance to score but failed to tap into the free net after Oppong and Samuel Adade had done the build up.

Bekoe also fluffed an opportunity when he was gifted with an error pass from Medeama’s goalie, Yaw Ansah.

Defender Kofi Agyare came close with an aerial ball advantage over goalie Adjei.

Another penalty would have been given, this time to the traditional club when substitute Osman Mohammed seemed to have been tripped.
