Abdul Jabaru alias ‘JB’, described by the police as a known supplier of narcotic drugs at Offinso in the Ashanti region, is in hot waters.
This follows his arrest by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, after several months of going into hiding.
Jabaru was said to have been arrested while he was in possession of a locally-made pistol and a compressed parcel, suspected to be cannabis.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE , ASP Charles Appiah, head of the DLEU, Ashanti, said Jabaru was apprehended close to his house at Offinso on February 16, this year.
According to him, the suspect, until his arrest, was on the police wanted list for allegedly dealing in narcotic drugs at Offinso.
Throwing more light on the issue, ASP Appiah said in October 2014, his outfit arrested Kofi Manu, a suspected narcotics dealer, during operation at Offinso.
He said a powdery substance was retrieved from Manu, and when it was examined it proved to be heroin.
ASP Appiah asserted that in his caution statement, Manu mentioned Abdul Jabaru as the one that supplied the illicit substance to him.
Armed with this information, he said the police mounted a serious search for Jabaru but the suspect managed to escape arrest for some months.
He said on February 16, the DLEU, acting upon intelligence, arrested one Fuseini Aremeyaw alias ‘Vasco Dagama’ in possession of suspected cannabis at Offinso.
In the course of the operation, the police officer said Jabaru was spotted on the street close to his house.
He was quickly arrested and escorted to his room where the pistol and the compressed parcel were found during a search.
